Michigan’s Military & Space Heroes Museum is looking for interested people to help us tell the stories about the man brave men and women honored in the museum. Available volunteer programs:
Greet Museum guests and answer questions about the Museum and exhibits. Conduct special tours and field trips and oversee patrons in all galleries. The ideal candidate needs not have served in the military or have any military ties. The chief requirements are an interest in military history and plenty of energy.
Opportunities are available for those who wish to assist within museum departments including curatorial, programs, operations, and public affairs.
Volunteer positions are open to all individuals with an interest and commitment of service to the Museum and who meet the qualifications. Volunteers must be at least 15 years or age and able to perform their prescribed duties. A minimum time commitment of eight hours per month is required to maintain volunteer status. Volunteers work independently, with other volunteers, an with permanent Museum staff.
Applications are submitted to the Museum Executive Director. A member of the Friends of the Museum will contact all applicants for an interview. A comprehensive training program is designed to prepare volunteers to operate effectively in their role as a Museum volunteer. This training program includes training on each exhibit area and its collections and is mandatory for new volunteers.
